Matt Vs. “Airbrushed” by Anamanaguchi

“Airbrushed” was the song I lost 80 pounds to.

In my struggles with the whole weight-loss deal, I found that I needed some sort of motivation. Instinctively almost, I kept turning to Anamanaguchi for this. Not sure why, honestly. But every single day – every single day that I spent running on that elliptical, “Airbrushed” was pumping into my headphones. Something about its vibrant excitement about life — the way this song is totally psyched to do some of the coolest shit ever today – made me want to run forever.

It passed through me. With each replay my feet kept moving with the tempo, somehow the song inspiring me to keep pushing myself. It was speaking to me: “Dude, you’re fucking awesome.” Every time, I believed it. “Airbrushed” was the most positive personal trainer in the world.

The pumping guitars, vibrant, exciting power chords bouncing around my head, caked over with the 8-bit singer the band is known for, rushed myself to a new me. And I thank it for that. I understand, this sounds crazy. It kind of is, sure. But this song came to me in a pivotal point in my life. “Airbrushed’s” overwhelming sense of optimism and unabashed desire to have fun, was extremely powerful at the time I found it. It’s one of those songs that comes into the world with a very definite goal, and delivers without wavering. We live in a world where simplicity is almost shunned. Where genuine enjoyment is looked down upon. Anamanaguchi says fuck that, we need to live once and a while.

WINNER: “Airbrushed” By Anamanaguchi

WHY: Possibly the best time you’ll ever have, this song is.
