Since this site’s values are based off of a specific album belonging absolutely to the rock genre, I find this award to be one of our most important and thought-out. That album I am talking about is Fun House by The Stooges, perhaps one of the greatest rock and roll albums ever made. Because of the progressiveness and bold attitude that Iggy Pop and The Stooges brought to the table in the year-fucking-1970, we believe he inspired the onslaught of punk music in that decade, and thus became part of the formation of punk music and rock and roll of today. In a sense, this is The Stooges Award. But not in any official sense, because, who are we?

The Men were the most exciting face of rock and roll this year, as Leave Home is the epitome of what rock and hardcore has been for the last ten or so years. The distinct styles of rock that they explore with this album are not inhibiting, nor do they make the album hectic in its pacing. Everything seems to fit, and that is testament to how good of a band they are; to make such a heavy sounding record with metal, indie, and psychedelic rock songs and keep their hardcore sensibility at the same time is tall order. At a certain point, I cannot describe the reasons why The Men amaze me because of their sheer power. And that’s what The Stooges was all about. So, how about you listen to this song?
